5 million users downloaded the Thread App in the First hour

As per CEO Mark Zuckerberg, five million users signed up for this platform in its first four hours of operation. The app is easily accessible in 100 nations on the Google and Apple stores, although because of its regulatory concerns, it won’t be accessible in the EU. Within minutes of the debut, some brands, including Billboard, Netflix, NPR, and HBO, had set up their accounts.

To login into Thread App, Users need to have an Instagram account. After the signup, users have the option to follow the same accounts that they are following on Instagram.

The Thread app is similar to Twitter, although some of the terminologies have been changed, with tweets called ‘Threads’ and retweets called ‘reposts’.

Thread users can submit a maximum of 5-minute videos, and their posts can be up to 500 characters. Also, they can share their posts as links on another platform. If users are facing any issues, they can report, block, or unfollow other users.

Zuckerberg stated, “There should be an app to chat for the public with more than 1 billion users on it”. Twitter is not succeeding yet. I believe we will succeed, he further wrote. On Wednesday evening, ‘Threads’ was a trending hashtag.

As per Meta, the goal of the Thread app is to provide a platform where users can share real-time updates and express their ideas freely. Currently, Instagram has around 2 billion users and Twitter has more than 250 million users.
