Every bank has its own facility, allowing the exchange of Rs. 2000 notes. Most private banks ask non-bank customers to bring their official ID proof while exchanging Rs. 2000 notes, however, two PSU banks don’t.
Along with showing official ID cards, private banks request that non-account holders fill out a specific form. If you are an account holder, you need to share your bank details with the bank to exchange the notes.
Punjab National Bank and the State Bank of India are the two public banks that don’t ask for any ID proof from non-bank account holders while exchanging Rs. 2000 notes.
However, other public banks may or may not request ID proof, depending on the policies issued by their head offices.
As per the report, an ET Wealth correspondent visited branches of one public sector bank and four branches of private sector banks in South Delhi to enquire about the exchanging procedure for Rs. 2000 notes.
the Central Bank requesting the public to deposit Rs. 2000 notes in their bank by September 30, 2023. As per the RBI, a maximum of Rs. 20,000 can be exchanged at a time in the bank. There are no charges imposed while exchanging Rs. 2000 notes.
- HDFC Bank
Whether you are a bank customer or not, you need to fill out a specific form (Annexure-1). A non-account holder needs to share this information:
- Name
- Mobile Number
- Any of these ID proofs- Driving License, Aadhar Card, Voter Id Card, PAN Card, NREGA Card, and Passport.
- Kotak Mahindra Bank
Kotak Bank requests the customer to fill out a specific form whether they are a bank customer or not. the form contains the following details:
- Name
- Address
- Mobile Number
- Non-Bank customers need to show any of these ID proof- Any of these ID proofs- Driving License, Aadhar Card, Election ID card, Voter Id Card, PAN Card, NREGA Card, and Passport.
- Bank account holders need to share the CRN and account number with the Bank.
- IndusInd Bank
This bank is asking all its customers to fill out a specific form and non-account holders to provide these details:
- Name
- Address
- Mobile Number
- Any one document as ID proof- Voter’s ID Card, Driving License, NREGA Card, Aadhar Card, Passport Copy, and Population Register
Bank customers need to provide an account number along with other details mentioned on the form.
- ICICI Bank
ICICI Bank is asking non-bank customers to fill out cash deposit slips along with other documents and mobile numbers.
- Punjab National Bank
They are not asking for any ID proof either from their customers or non-Bank account holders. You can visit the branch and easily exchange Rs. 2000 notes.
- State Bank of India
This bank is also not asking for ID Proof from any customer (Bank account holders or Non-Bank account holders)
