Raid 2’ Box Office Day 27: Ajay Devgn’s Thriller Surpasses ₹163 Crore Milestone

Ajay Devgn’s intense thriller Raid 2 keeps marching triumphantly at the box office as it manages to breach the ₹163 crore mark on Day 27. The follow-up to the 2018 blockbuster has found resonance with viewers nationwide with powerful performances coupled with a plot loaded with suspense and effective courtroom drama. In spite of tough competition from fresh releases, Raid 2 has been doing well with consistent footfalls, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where word-of-mouth has been a key factor in keeping the momentum going.

The collections of the film got a boost during the weekends, but even on weekdays, Raid 2 has been able to attract decent numbers. On Day 27, it collected about ₹1.10 crore, taking the cumulative domestic count to ₹163.20 crore. Trade pundits opine that the film’s long shelf life is because of its tightly knit script and Ajay Devgn’s authoritative performance of an honest IRS officer fighting corruption at the top echelons. With the viewers’ hunger for substance intertwined with action and drama, Raid 2 came in handy.

In addition to its success at home, Raid 2 has proven successful in overseas markets, which are also adding substantially to its overall global box office earnings. The film’s reach in the foreign marketplaces is further cementing Devgn’s large fanbase internationally. With the film now in its final week of its fourth week, it is hoped that by next weekend the film could surpass the ₹170 crore figure with the current pace of success continuing.

Raid 2 has benefited, in part, from the timing of its release. There were no major releases which helped the movie extend its success at the box office. The combination of timely release and compelling movie story telling played a role. Raid 2 displayed a remarkable run that not only made it one of the top-grossing films of the year to date, but also solidified Ajay Devgn’s reputation as a bankable star who can take audiences through strong performances in content driven films.
